Wilhite's Weekend Welcoming - Expanded Edition - October 12, 2008 |
|
Thank you for all of the e-mails with prayers and words of encouragement sent our way. The Lord heard every prayer and was gracious in every way. As I write this, it is the Lord’s day here in Japan and still Saturday in the States. Shellee is asleep on the hospital bed, and the newest Wilhite is in his little isolet bed next to me (finally) asleep. He reminds us a lot of Malachi in the way he looks – but then again – so did most of the boys when they were born.
For those of you dying to know his name and stats, you can scroll down to the bottom of the e-mail. (This would be the cue for Pastor BP to skip the rest of the lengthy article and get to the “facts” :o) ) However, I would like to begin with the story of his name and why it was chosen. As most of you know, we pick first names because of their meaning and as a testimony to the Lord. The Middle names honor someone(s) who has played an important role in our lives. So here goes . . . :o) |

Wilhite's Wet Weekday Writings - October 7, 2008 |
|
Today is Shellee’s due date with the latest edition of /addition to the Wilhite family. However the little one (or “big one” according to the ultrasound pics :o) ) seems to be perfectly satisfied with his/her surroundings at the moment. One of the boys said this morning, “Can’t you make the baby come out?” Ummmmmmmmmm – No. So we wait and stay busy with life and language learning in the process. Since the first day of fall, the air turned cool and the rain began to fall. There have only been a handful of dry days and even then they were cloud covered. If it were 15 degrees cooler, there would be a heap of snow outside. I suppose that will come soon enough. The boys have been going stir crazy inside, so in honor of the rain . . . When it rains it pours . . . Mistakes First of all, for those of you who don’t understand my sense of humor (AKA Pastor BP et al. :o) ) I am considering a boring, plain facts, sans humor, mailing list which will simply contain bullet statements about necessary events and prayer requests. It will make my last prayer letter look something like this. |

Dear Praying Friends and Family:
Greetings to all from the land of the Rising Sun. We are still plodding along here in Japan and honored to be ambassadors for the King of Kings! Thank you so much for your prayers, support, letters, cards, packages, and encouragement. They are very much coveted! We thank the Lord for you folks and pray for His abundant Grace to abound in your lives and in your churches. Discoursing Our language acquisition is progressing, yet at a slower pace than I would have hoped. Learning a new language to live with is different from learning it for study and reading purposes. Not only do you have to say it right, but you have to know what it means in Japanese context as well. Shellee and I were talking to our nine year old neighbor (Mana) the other day as we were looking at a double rainbow outside. We said that it was “beautiful – utsukushii.” Mana cocked |
